exhibition · 2026-04-26

The San Lorenzo area in Rome has emerged as a center for contemporary art, with galleries such as Monitor, Gilda Lavia, Matèria, and Monti8 organizing joint openings. In January 2026, Monti8 will showcase 'The space between,' the inaugural solo exhibition in Italy by Welsh artist Gwen Evans, featuring paintings of unidentified female figures. Monitor will host 'Confluenze,' a group exhibition with nine artists, including Matteo Fato and Salvo (1947–2015). Matèria presents 'In Plain Sight: Photography, Power and Public Space in Britain,' co-curated with Christiane Monarchi, highlighting eight artists who explore the impact of photography in British public spaces. Gilda Lavia will feature Argentine artist Carla Grunauer's 'El metal que sueña,' marking her second solo exhibition in Rome. All shows will be available until late January or February 2026.
