Four Emerging Artists Show Expanded Works in Vesoul

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Following the June 2003 Mulhouse 003 exhibition, which selected seventy recent art school graduates, the Archives départementales in Vesoul, France, presents "Un an après" from September 19 to October 11, 2003. The show features four artists who were particularly noted in the earlier exhibition, allowing them to present their work more extensively. Chiara Pirito (b. 1977, Turin) uses simple video setups to film drivers and passengers at red lights, capturing diverse expressions and attitudes. She also photographs stills from the video, creating temporal cuts that blend surveillance and reportage. Marine Pages (b. 1976, Paris) employs watercolor to explore interpersonal distance, with figures set against large empty spaces, combining gravity with sarcastic, monstrous botanical appendages. Yannick Mauny (b. 1973, Luxeuil) presents an installation "De Moscou à Jérusalem" based on his expeditions to places in the Vosges forest named after foreign cities (Moscow, The Hague, Jerusalem), which were named by Napoleonic veterans. His display includes slides, Super 8 films, photos, and postcards. Vincent Pfeiffer (b. 1979, Vesoul) shows three works, including "Carottage de bibliothèque" (library coring), a violent plunge into books, and "Sous perfusion," a device injecting black ink into a school desk throughout the exhibition. His "Kama-Sutra des valets" provocatively explores power dynamics in human relationships.
