Four Contemporary Artists Join Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature's Permanent Collection
The Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris has integrated works by Peter Buggenhout, Delphine Gigoux-Martin, Kate MccGwire, and Mâkhi Xenakis into its permanent collection. Under curator Claude d'Anthenaise, the museum reopened in 2007 after renovation and expansion, shifting its focus to the human-animal relationship and incorporating contemporary art seamlessly alongside historical pieces. MccGwire's animal-like sculptures are noted for their poetic integration. Gigoux-Martin's October performance involving a taxidermied bull sparked animal rights protests. Buggenhout's glass-encased sculpture from his Gorgo series uses materials like blood and horsehair, evoking ecological threats. The museum, located at 87 Rue des Archives, 75003 Paris, also hosts temporary interventions, such as Abraham Poincheval's spring 2014 piece. An international symposium "Exposer la Chasse?" is planned for March 2015.
