Four Artists Win 2024 Preis der Nationalgalerie, Will Present New Works at Hamburger Bahnhof

For the first time in its history, the Preis der Nationalgalerie has selected four recipients: Pan Daijing, Daniel Lie, Hanne Lippard, and James Richards. Each artist will create a new work for a group exhibition at Berlin's Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, running from April to September 2024. The award, established in 2000 and presented biennially, recognizes artists under 40 who demonstrate the international dynamism of Germany's art scene. A jury of six prominent figures, including Cecilia Alemani of New York's High Line Art, Elvira Dyangani Ose from MACBA in Barcelona, Kasia Redzisz of KANAL – Centre Pompidou in Brussels, Jochen Volz from São Paulo's Pinacoteca do Estado, and Hamburger Bahnhof directors Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath alongside acting director Gabriele Knapstein, made the final selection. They chose the winners from a pool of 70 nominations initially reviewed by twelve directors and art historians. Past laureates include Pauline Curnier Jardin, Agnieszka Polska, and Anne Imhof.
