Four Artists Shortlisted for 2018 Korea Artist Prize Exhibition at MMCA
At the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), four artists—siren eun young jung, Minja Gu, Jae Ho Jung, and Okin Collective—are showcasing their work until 25 November as part of the 2018 Korea Artist Prize exhibition. This award, initiated in 2012 by the MMCA and SBS Culture Foundation, is designed to assist innovative Korean contemporary artists. A panel comprising Bartomeu Mari, Suzanne Cotter, Chunchen Wang, Sungwon Kim, and Cuauhtémoc Medina will determine the winner, who will be revealed on 5 September and will receive KRW10 million (around £7,000). Medina, a judge and chief curator for the 2018 Shanghai Biennale, commended the diversity of mediums presented, highlighting their representation of both the uniqueness and universality of Korean contemporary art. Additionally, the SBS Culture Foundation's Korea Artist Prize Promotion Fund is backing international projects by previous winners and finalists, including an exhibition by Kyungwon Moon and Joonho Jeon at Tate Liverpool and Kyungah Ham's involvement in the Bangkok Biennale.
