award · 2026-04-20

Tate Britain revealed the Turner Prize shortlist, featuring Duncan Campbell, Tris Vonna-Michell, Ciara Philips, and James Richards. Each artist, all under 50 and either British or UK-based, will receive £5,000, with the winner claiming £25,000 on 1 December. Duncan Campbell, Dublin-born and Glasgow-based, earned nomination for a video included in Scotland's Venice Biennale presentation last year. Ciara Philips, a Canadian printmaker also based in Glasgow, was recognized for her exhibition at The Showroom in London, where she established a temporary print studio involving artists, designers, and local women's groups; she co-founded The Poster Club collective. James Richards creates video collages using found footage to produce dreamlike and unsettling films. Tris Vonna-Michell, an Essex-born Glasgow School of Art graduate, employs slideshows to explore personal histories. The jury included Stefan Kalmar of Artists Space in New York, Helen Legg of Spike Island in Bristol, and Sarah McCrory of Glasgow International Festival. An exhibition of the artists' works opens on 30 September at Tate Britain, preceding the December ceremony. Last year's winner was UK-based French artist Laure Prouvost.
