Four Artists Launch ƎMERGE Project Space in Pescara

other · 2026-04-27

Four artists—Maurizio Viceré, Pierluigi Fabrizio, Giorgio Liddo, and Cristiano De Medio—have left the established artist-run space Ultrastudio in Pescara to found a new project space called ƎMERGE. The decision was mutual and recent. ƎMERGE aims to rethink the concept of "exhibition" as an experimental display, interacting with both direct and web-mediated fruition. The first three experiments will be part of the program "Outrageous Ways Of Seeing," a homage to John Berger's Ways of Seeing. The space will not only feature artists and curators but also foster contamination across disciplines, challenging traditional exhibition principles like the white cube model. The project emphasizes Duchamp's "coefficient of art" in an era of accelerated thought fragmentation. The founders have not yet defined specific objectives, viewing the venture as an exotic path whose effects are unknown. The interview was conducted by Valentina Muzi for Artribune.
