Four Artists at Galerie Jean Fournier: Marcasiano, Scaccabarozzi, Van der Meulen, Saunders
At Galerie Jean Fournier in Paris, a group exhibition curated by Éric de Chassey and Pierre Wat brings together four artists working across sculpture, photography, and painting. Colombe Marcasiano presents two sculptures and two photographs; her largest sculpture, 'La Palette de survie,' incorporates a stretcher, a construction pallet, and gold survival blanket polyester. Antonio Scaccabarozzi shows four 'paintings' made from suspended polyethylene sheets, varying in thickness, color, and gloss. Emmanuel Van der Meulen contributes quasi-monochrome paintings with deductive structures derived from American abstraction. Wade Saunders exhibits three sculptures: 'Dead Fathers,' a 107 cm open cube assembled from old vinyl records; 'Travaux pratiques,' a double helix of black and white resin apple casts; and a third piece featuring a gray painted panel, a playful commentary on painting's ineffability. The exhibition runs from June 9 to September 7, 2007.
