Four American Artists Take Over Parisian Galleries
Four Parisian galleries in the Marais district are concurrently hosting exhibitions of American artists. At David Zwirner, Dan Flavin's neon works (through February 1, 2020) offer a minimalist, cold aesthetic. Thaddaeus Ropac presents David Salle's new paintings (through February 29, 2020), which blend New Yorker cartoons with everyday objects in a pop style. Almine Rech shows Peter Saul's paintings and drawings (through February 29, 2020), alongside sculptures by his wife Sally, ahead of his major New Museum retrospective (February 2–May 31, 2020). Saul's work critiques American society and reinterprets 19th-century European painting. At Perrotin, Daniel Arsham's 'Paris, 3020' (through March 21, 2020) features eroded ancient sculptures colonized by crystals.
