Fotofestiwal Łodź Returns for 22nd Edition with Theme of Hope, Featuring International Exhibitions on Resistance

The 22nd edition of Fotofestiwal Łódź is set to take place from June 15 to June 25, 2023, under the theme 'Hope', curated by Krzysztof Candrowicz and Marta Szymańska. This year's festival includes seven exhibitions that focus on themes of resistance and collaboration across Europe, South America, and the Middle East. Ugo Woatzi's 'On The Verge' addresses life during Poland's anti-LGBTQ+ campaigns, while Rami Hara's 'In Our Hands' highlights marginalized communities. Chloé Milos Azzopardi investigates environmental changes, and Gabriele Cecconi's 'TiàWùK' reflects on Kuwait's colonial past. Agnieszka Sejud's 'Mimesis' features kaleidoscopic visuals, and Ngadi Smart's 'Wata Na Life' documents Sierra Leone's water crisis. The festival also pays tribute to Henryk Ross, who chronicled the Łódź ghetto, with Szymańska stressing the importance of collaboration in challenging times.
