Foster + Partners to stand trial over fatal window fall at London's Corniche tower
Foster + Partners, along with developer St James Group, contractor Lindner Prater, and engineering consultant Wintech, will face trial at Inner London Crown Court on 6 July 2026 for alleged health and safety failures at The Corniche towers in London. The charges relate to a 2018 incident where a window pane fell from the penthouse, killing 53-year-old Mick Ferris. The companies are accused of exposing people to risks from outward opening penthouse window vents under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Foster + Partners has pleaded not guilty. The Corniche, recently completed at the time, had been redesigned after a similar non-fatal window fall in August 2017. The development on Albert Embankment includes two tower clusters with curved windows and balconies overlooking the River Thames, containing 253 apartments and amenities.
