Foscarini's Postcards of Light: Gianluca Vassallo Photographs Design in Stockholm Streets

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

For the Stockholm Furniture Fair, Foscarini commissioned artist Gianluca Vassallo to create a photographic project that brings its lighting designs into the Swedish capital's urban landscape. Titled Postcards of Light, the series features iconic Foscarini lamps—including Uto by Lagranja Design, Plass by Luca Nichetto, Gregg, Birdie, and Rituals by L+R Palomba, Tuareg by Ferruccio Laviani, and Lumiere by Rodolfo Dordoni—as protagonists in intimate street scenes. Vassallo drew on childhood travel memories, transforming the lamps into witnesses of life fragments, describing the work as "a postcard to testify the joy of having been there, in the world, of having been in the heart." The project was presented alongside Foscarini's participation in the fair, with images published in an Artribune gallery.
