Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel to Present Survey of Efrain Almeida's Work
Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel in São Paulo will host 'O homem nu [The naked man]', the first comprehensive exhibition of Efrain Almeida's work since his death. The show, spanning works from 1995 to 2024, explores the artist's engagement with the body, spirituality, and desire. Almeida, born in Boa Viagem, Ceará, drew on the materials and cultural traditions of the Cariri region, working in sculpture, installation, painting, embroidery, and watercolor. His practice, developed over nearly three decades, merged diverse geographies and beliefs through a visual language using wood, fabric, bronze, and paper. The exhibition focuses on his sculptures, alongside watercolors, oil paintings, and embroidered pieces, with recurring motifs including human bodies.
