Forte di Gavi: New Director Annamaria Aimone Plans Cultural Revival

Annamaria Aimone, art historian and director of Forte di Gavi since November 2016, outlines plans for the 36,000-square-meter pentagonal fortress in Piedmont, Italy. The fortress, under the Polo Museale del Piemonte, has undergone restoration since the 1970s, creating empty exhibition spaces. Aimone's priorities include territorial partnerships with the Comune di Gavi, local businesses, and the Associazione Amici del Forte di Gavi. In 2017, she engaged a Chinese delegation from Milan and integrated the fort into the Torino Città Capitale and Tessere Museo circuits. Activities included historical reenactments, school workshops, digital invasions, and a photography walk. For 2018, she seeks projects like 'Gavi: Forte di Cultura, Arte e Storia' supported by the Compagnia di San Paolo, and a comics initiative potentially involving Japanese manga and Hayao Miyazaki. She aims to attract audiences from three regions, collaborate with embassies (Slovak, Romanian, Chinese), and foster public-private partnerships under the Franceschini reform. Upcoming events include a tin box exhibition on December 8, 2017, and a logo competition with Politecnico di Milano.
