FOROF Roma Launches Silent Reading Party Cultural Café Series

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

FOROF, a cultural space in Rome founded by Giovanna Caruso Fendi, is launching Silent Reading Party, a new program of cultural cafés inspired by historical venues like the Cabaret Voltaire (founded by Hugo Ball and Emmy Hennings) and the Bal Tic Tac (the first futurist cabaret decorated by Giacomo Balla), as well as contemporary cultural cafés in New York. The initiative, in collaboration with La Setta dei Poeti estinti, will consist of three themed public events starting Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 6 PM. Each event will include a guided tour of the space and the exhibition "Limbus Nimbus Omnibus" by Gelitin/Gelatin, followed by silent reading of a novel, essay, or poetry collection chosen according to the theme (the first theme is "freedom"), during which participants must leave their phones. After reading, a discussion will be held, accompanied by a toast from Rimessa Roscioli. The program aims to foster intellectual exchange in a unique setting where contemporary art dialogues with the archaeological remains of the Basilica Ulpia. Caruso Fendi stated that FOROF, as a Società Benefit, seeks to create a positive social impact and attract a younger, diverse audience. The three appointments will take place in November 2024, February 2025, and April 2025.
