Fornasetti unveils renovated Milan flagship store during Design Week 2026

architecture-design · 2026-05-07

Inaugurated during Milan Design Week 2026, Fornasetti has revamped its flagship store located on Via Senato. Founded by Piero Fornasetti in 1940 and currently led by his son Barnaba, the redesign was executed by Felizia Berchtold and Oskar Kohnen from the design firm Tutto Bene, known for their work at Globus Basel. The new interior juxtaposes classical and contemporary styles, merging ornamental and radical aspects while highlighting craftsmanship amidst a digital age. The store is envisioned as a 'sequence of environments' showcasing collections within a dynamic context. A highlight of the event was the launch of Fornasetti Fiori by Fjura, a 12-week project by visual artist Simone Gooch, transforming the store into a flower shop. The first floor features 'The Living Archive' with ceramics and decorative items, while the second floor comprises four themed living spaces centered on architecture, metaphysics, identity, and astronomy. Kohnen remarked, "As designers, we see our role as both custodians and interpreters..."
