Formes élémentaires: Art, Math, and Mind in Guyancourt

The exhibition 'Formes élémentaires' at La Salle d'Exposition in Guyancourt, running until December 1, 2013, explores representations of thought, its structure, and movements through art, mathematics, neurology, philosophy, and psychoanalysis. Conceived by artists Norbert Godon and Sophie Pouille, it features works by Yona Friedman, Jérôme Pierre, Antoine Schmitt, and others, alongside documents, mathematical objects, and a carpet beater. Highlights include Vincent Borrelli's 'Tore plat' (2013), a 3D-printed blue resin torus, and Godon and Gregory Beller's 'Cabinet de curiosités psychophonétiques' (2013), synesthetic works combining sound, form, color, and smell. The exhibition traces a path from formalization of thought to materialization of emotions, starting with mental maps and mnemonic architectures, and ending with interactive pieces. Schmitt's 'Pixel noir' (1996) is presented as a digital actualization of Lacanian theories, while Godon's 'Faux Nœuds' (2010) are false problems displayed in entomologist boxes.
