Forme nel Verde Festival Returns to San Quirico d'Orcia with Antifragile Theme

The 2019 edition of Forme nel Verde, titled Antifragile, runs until September 30 in San Quirico d'Orcia, Siena. The theme, inspired by Nassim Nicholas Taleb's book Antifragile: prosperare nel disordine, encourages embracing failure as a step forward. Curator Gaia Pasi, who has led the festival since 2017, has revitalized the event by involving young artists and students from the Academies of Fine Arts of Florence and Carrara. This year, renowned artist Michelangelo Pistoletto created a new version of his work Terzo Paradiso, which became the emblem of the edition. Other participants include Sebastiano Pelli, who directed a workshop on welding to create a shipwrecked boat, and Francesco Saverio Teruzzi, who led a workshop on Pistoletto's project. Maurizio Savini presents The Age of Unreason at Palazzo Chigi, a series of portraits inspired by the Lost Generation poets Thomas Eliot, Ernest Hemingway, and Ezra Pound. The festival, founded in 1971 by journalist Mario Guidotti, has seen a resurgence since 2017, with funding tripled by the region and a grant from the Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena. Exhibitions are held at Orti Leonini and Palazzo Chigi.
