Formal Framework for Agentic Knowledge Graph Affordances

publication · 2026-05-20

A new paper on arXiv (2605.19186) revisits Semantic Web Services concepts from two decades ago—OWL-S and WSMO—to address gaps in current Knowledge Graph (KG) metadata standards like VoID and DCAT. These standards describe KG contents but fail to specify what an agent can prove from a KG, closure assumptions for empty results, or grounding of task vocabulary in the schema. The paper identifies an epistemic failure mode when the governing schema DL and the operative entailment regime diverge, invisible to current metadata. It proposes a four-dimensional formal framework for discoverable agent knowledge, extending these insights to the KG setting.
