FORMA BALAGUER 2026: Open Call for Contemporary Art Interventions in Balaguer

The city of Balaguer, Spain, will host FORMA BALAGUER from October 9 to 25, 2026, an international open call for contemporary art interventions in public spaces and heritage buildings. The theme is 'Espacios de memoria y no-lugares' (Spaces of Memory and Non-Places), inviting artists to explore how cities and towns function as repositories of collective and individual histories. Artists over 18 of any nationality may apply. Projects can be in any artistic format and must be technically feasible, weather-resistant for outdoor works, and not obstruct emergency vehicles. Selected artists receive €2,000 each (six projects total). The jury includes Gemma Avinyó (Fundació Sorigué), Jesús Navarro (Museu Morera de Lleida), Roser Sanjuan (Centre d’Art la Panera), Irma Secanell (coordinator of Forma), and Vanessa Duch (production). Carme Alòs (Museu de la Noguera) and Sandra Madueño (Balaguer heritage councilor) will witness the process. Applications must be submitted via email to formabalaguer@balaguer.cat by May 31, 2026, with two PDFs: one describing the project and its technical needs, and another with the artist's CV and ID. Selection criteria include conceptual fit (2 points), visual documentation (2 points), technical feasibility (2 points), safety and durability (2 points), and interdisciplinarity (2 points).
