Forgotten Masterpieces: Stame-Lanteri Collection Unveiled at Palazzo Bentivoglio

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Palazzo Bentivoglio in Bologna hosts 'Riassunto delle puntate precedenti', an exhibition of the Stame-Lanteri collection, hidden for decades. Curated by Tommaso Pasquali with scenography by Ferruccio Laviani, the show presents around sixty works assembled between 1946 and 1989 by collectors Antonio Stame and Vincenzina Lanteri. The collection spans major 20th-century movements, featuring international artists like Christian Schad, Max Ernst, Alberto Burri, and Tom Wesselmann alongside Italian figures such as De Pisis, Savinio, and Pozzati. The underground venue evokes the original domestic setting, with works arranged thematically. Highlights include Hans Arp's 'Poupée borgne' (1965), Ernst's 'La Tentation de saint Antoine' (1945), Burri's 'Combustione T n. 12' (1955), and Schad's 'Ritratto di Frieda Cornelius' (1928). The exhibition also debuts new uniforms for staff designed by Bologna-based brand Magliano, using fabrics from Marzotto Forniture civili.
