Forever Tomorrow: Major Chinese Contemporary Art Survey Opens in Auckland

Opening on 2 May, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki will unveil Forever Tomorrow: Chinese Art Now 永远的明天：中国艺术进行时, an extensive exhibition showcasing 67 pieces from 42 artists. This collection encompasses various mediums, including performance, photography, sculpture, installation, moving image, and new media. It explores the reactions of Chinese artists to the country's changes since the late 1970s, highlighting the journey from early avant-garde movements to modern digital innovators. Dr. Zara Stanhope, the gallery's Director, emphasizes that the artworks reflect significant transformations in China and its international connections. The exhibition features a mix of both well-known and up-and-coming artists, curated by the gallery itself.
