Forci Art Foundation Hosts Textile Art Exhibition in Tuscany

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Forci Art Foundation, established in 2023 by Melanie and Nina van Ogtrop at the Tenuta di Forci estate near Lucca, Italy, presents "Seamspell," a group exhibition running until August 3, 2025. The show concludes an artist residency focused on contemporary textile art, featuring Dörte Bundt (Germany, 1984), Sophy Naess (USA, 1982), and Beatrice Spadea (Italy, 1995). Bundt creates tapestries inspired by Korean bojagi patchwork using natural materials and reclaimed fabrics dyed with rosemary and oak. Naess combines weaving, painting, and photography with waste materials from Forci and Prato to explore identity and difference. Spadea uses batik-dyed silk, paper, and ceramic sculptures to examine form and voice. The residency program annually hosts three emerging artists for two months, emphasizing sustainability and biodynamic agriculture. The exhibition title evokes a spell binding threads, stories, and presences, with the deconsecrated church of Sant'Anna—patron saint of mothers, home, and sewing—providing inspiration. Donated works may enter the foundation's permanent collection.
