Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl discusses new album 'Your Favourite Toy' and life after Taylor Hawkins

Dave Grohl, frontman of Foo Fighters, describes their 12th album 'Your Favourite Toy' as a return to punk roots, calling it a 'powder keg' and 'burning diesel.' Recorded quickly during personal upheaval, the album features slashing guitar lines and scorched-earth vocals, with tracks like 'Caught In The Echo' and 'Of All People' reflecting turmoil and anger. The band continues to grieve drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022, with bassist Nate Mendel noting they are 'a different band' without him. New drummer Ilan Rubin has joined the lineup. Grohl acknowledges using music to navigate difficult times, including personal revelations about fathering a child outside his marriage, addressed in the song 'Unconditional.' Sir Paul McCartney provided support after Hawkins' death, inviting Grohl to perform at Glastonbury in June 2022. Foo Fighters will play Liverpool's Anfield Stadium this summer, with pre-show rituals now including Lego building instead of tequila shots.
