Fonderia Battaglia relocates to Lambrate, bringing KURA project

After over a century in Via Stilicone, Fonderia Artistica Battaglia is moving to Via Oslavia 17 in Milan's Lambrate district by the end of February 2019. The historic foundry, founded in 1913 by Ercole Battaglia, will bring its Battaglia Foundry Sculpture Prize, design, restoration, and open studio projects to the new location. The move also includes KURA, the exhibition space of Rome-based magazine CURA founded by Andrea Baccin and Ilaria Marotta, which opened in 2018 in the former Peep Hole space. The relocation revitalizes Lambrate after the departures of Ventura Projects and Massimo De Carlo gallery, but leaves a void in the Monumentale district, which also housed Pelagica gallery and Lia Rumma. The foundry has cast works by Arturo Martini, Giò and Arnaldo Pomodoro, Alighiero Boetti, Giacomo Manzù, Giuseppe Penone, and contemporary artists like Giorgio Andreotta Caló, Nico Vascellari, Francesco Arena, Gianni Politi, and Elisa Strinna. The new space will offer workshops, an apartment for residencies, and exhibition space for KURA.
