Fondazione Zeffirelli Presents Tarkovsky-Inspired Exhibition 'Un Nuovo Volo Su Solaris'

The Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli in Florence is launching its first international exhibition since opening on July 31, 2017. Titled 'Un Nuovo Volo Su Solaris' (A New Flight Over Solaris), the show is inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky's 1972 film 'Solaris' and runs from May 28 to July 31, 2018. It features paintings, graphics, and sculptures by Russian nonconformist artists from the 1960s to 1980s, drawn from the Anatoly Zverev Museum (Museo AZ) in Moscow and the private collection of Natalia Opaleva, the museum's director and exhibition producer. The exhibition is curated by Polina Lobačevskaja and includes a futuristic installation resembling a space station with 22 screens for video and photo projections, plus 32 paintings and 2 sculptures. This is the final part of a trilogy; earlier installments inspired by Tarkovsky's 'Stalker' and 'Andrei Rublev' were held at Museo AZ in 2016 and 2017. Pippo Zeffirelli, vice president of the foundation, expressed hope for a strong artistic and cultural exchange between the foundation and Museo AZ.
