Fondazione Stelline in Milan closes for major restoration and hotel expansion
Starting January 1, 2024, Fondazione Stelline in Milan will undergo renovations and hotel expansion, overseen by Studio 3+1 Architetti Associati and Stefano Boeri Interiors. The initiative aims for the foundation to achieve financial independence by 2026, necessitating a closure of the building for a minimum of nine months and the hotel for at least 20 months. Established in 1986 within a former monastery, it has been a venue for contemporary art since 1996. The €16 million project is jointly funded by Regione Lombardia and Comune di Milano. The restoration team features architect Vincenzo Ramires Pomella alongside engineers Fabrizio Pisani and Giulio Vannucci, with plans to include additional hotel rooms, a spa, and a public lounge bar. Hotel management details are still pending.
