Fondazione smART launches community art education project in Rome's Trieste district

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

In Rome's Trieste district, Fondazione smART, under the direction of co-founder and educational leader Giorgia Rissone, has initiated a complimentary community art education program called 'Una storia comune.' Curated by Pietro Gaglianò, this project includes four sessions that took place from May 12 to May 21, 2022, centering on the exploration and engagement of public spaces. Residents are encouraged to share their neighborhood narratives. The initiative is partially financed by the 'Adotta un'opera' campaign, which successfully sold eight artworks donated by artists including Sonia Andresano and Anouk Chambaz for a nominal fee of 300 euros each. The program featured events on May 12, 13, and 19, culminating with an open lecture on May 21. Gaglianò, who previously worked in smaller Apennine communities, remarked that this is his inaugural urban project. Additionally, on May 13, the foundation opened a new educational classroom and the exhibition 'L'invenzione della giovinezza,' curated by Sarah Linford, showcasing pieces by various artists available for purchase to support 'Una storia comune.' The project's goal is to enhance awareness of collective histories and experiences through contemporary art.
