Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo apre nuova sede sull'Isola di San Giacomo a Venezia

On May 7, 2026, the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation launched a new location on San Giacomo Island in the northern lagoon of Venice. This island, bought in 2018 by Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and Agostino Re Rebaudengo from the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, is now a hub for art and sustainability. The initiative includes exhibitions, permanent installations, and artist residencies, emphasizing environmental sustainability in partnership with Asja Energy. Notable inaugural events feature Matt Copson’s solo exhibition 'Fanfare/Lament,' curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist (running from May 7 to September 12), and the collective show 'Don't have hope, be hope!' Additionally, six permanent installations by artists like Claire Fontaine and Thomas Schütte adorn the garden. Access will be gradual, starting during the Venice Biennales and by reservation for groups, with a request stop on the Murano-Burano route, thanks to an agreement with the City of Venice.
