Fondazione Sabe per l’arte opens in Ravenna with Mirella Saluzzo show
A new contemporary art foundation, Fondazione Sabe per l’arte, opens in Ravenna on November 13, 2021. Located near the MAR museum in a renovated 19th-century building, it was established by Norberto Bezzi and artist Mirella Saluzzo, who co-chair the scientific committee. The foundation aims to promote contemporary art, especially sculpture, through exhibitions, meetings, screenings, and cultural activities. Pasquale Fameli, an art critic and University of Bologna scholar, serves as artistic director. The inaugural exhibition, "Fuori Asse," runs from November 13, 2021 to February 19, 2022, featuring eight recent sculptures by Saluzzo. Her works use thin aluminum sheets bent in a method curator Elena Di Raddo compares to Japanese origami. The foundation also plans to catalog Saluzzo's works and build a specialized sculpture library. Bezzi stated the foundation seeks to reposition Ravenna within contemporary cultural discourse, moving beyond its ancient and medieval heritage.
