Fondazione Querini Stampalia Unveils Dreamlike Rehang with Contemporary Art
On May 5, 2026, the Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice launched "The Dreamer," a unique installation directed by Cristiana Collu. This exhibition showcases more than 170 items from the foundation's permanent collection, rearranged thematically to echo the passions of its founder, Giovanni Querini Stampalia, born on May 5, 1799, and his sister Caterina. Alongside these historical pieces, works from six modern artists—Giusy Calia, Silvia Giambrone, Daniela De Lorenzo, Davide Rivalta, Emanuele Becheri, and Chiara Bettazzi—are featured. Moving away from a traditional timeline layout, the exhibit creates a whimsical, emotional journey reminiscent of Luchino Visconti's film "Senso." Collu describes this approach as "arte combinatoria," allowing visitors to forge their own stories as they wander through notable works like Giovanni Bellini's "Presentazione di Gesù al Tempio."
