Fondazione Prada's 'K' Exhibition Extends Run, Merging Kafka-Inspired Art, Film, and Music

exhibition · 2026-04-20

The exhibition 'K' at Fondazione Prada in Milan has been extended until 26 October 2020, showcasing pieces inspired by the incomplete works of Franz Kafka. Highlights include Martin Kippenberger's 1994 piece 'The Happy End of Franz Kafka's Amerika,' Orson Welles's 1962 film 'The Trial' featuring Anthony Perkins, and Tangerine Dream's 2013 album 'Franz Kafka – The Castle.' Curator Udo Kittelmann refers to the exhibition as a triptych that delves into themes of transformation and isolation. Following COVID-19 closures, the foundation will reopen on 5 June 2020, offering online access to Welles's film and Tangerine Dream's music. Kafka's works were released posthumously by Max Brod between 1925 and 1927, with Kittelmann citing Walter Benjamin's essay on Kafka in his introduction.
