Fondazione Prada's Human Brains Project Focuses on Neurodegenerative Disease Prevention

Fondazione Prada's Human Brains project, led by Head of Programs Chiara Costa, has launched its latest initiative "Preserving the Brain: A Call to Action," focusing on neurodegenerative disease prevention. The project, initiated in 2018 with Miuccia Prada and experts, combines scientific and philosophical approaches. The current exhibition at the Galleria Nord in Milan runs alongside a public talk series until March 2025. Costa highlights the project's evolution from studying brain function to addressing natural and pathological decay. The initiative collaborates with international research centers and Italian patient associations including AIMA, AISM, AISLA, AriSLA, Parkinson Italia, and LIRH. The exhibition explores prevention strategies such as diet, exercise, sleep quality, and social enrichment, emphasizing the role of cultural institutions in promoting cognitive health. Artificial intelligence is discussed for its potential in risk prediction and disease monitoring through data analysis and neuroimaging. The project also features Z.E.A. (Zone di Esplorazione Artistica) for accessibility and inclusion. A talk on March 31, 2025, titled "Dialogare con l'arte" will be held in conjunction with miart's talks among friends program. Costa notes that the museum serves as a "new public square" aggregating diverse expertise, redefining cultural language.
