Fondazione Prada publishes #35 Urbano Rurale Selvatico trilogy on landscape and nature

publication · 2026-04-27

Fondazione Prada has released #35 Urbano Rurale Selvatico, a set of three notebooks exploring the landscape surrounding its Milan exhibition space. The Quaderno Ricerca analyzes greenery in industrial sites and the Milanese countryside; the Quaderno Progetto describes the conceptual premises and development of the foundation's landscape project; and the Quaderno Erbario documents botanical species through detailed sheets and images. The project stems from Miuccia Prada's 2014 considerations on the relationship between the exhibition venue and the city, transforming a early 20th-century distillery into a cultural space. Collaborating with landscape architect Maria Teresa D'Agostino, the foundation aims to restore space to nature, including wild vegetation, based on historical research identifying tree species from the late 19th to mid-20th century. These plants now grow on the cinema roof and in the parking lot. The notebooks tell a story of attempted and successful reconciliation between humans and nature, offering a new concept of metropolitan greenery. The publication costs €45 and is available through Fondazione Prada.
