Fondazione Prada Explores Storyboard History in Milan Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-26

'A Kind of Language,' curated by Melissa Harris, is currently on display at Fondazione Prada's Osservatorio in Milan. The exhibition showcases over 800 pieces, including storyboards, moodboards, and scripts dating back to the 1920s. It features 61 drafting tables and 13 wall installations, enhanced by a visual effect created by architect Andrea Faraguna. The origins of storyboards, particularly in animation, are explored, with a focus on Walt Disney's 1937 partnership with Webb Smith for 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.' Iconic characters from Fleischer Studios, Disney, and UPA, such as Betty Boop and Mickey Mouse, are included. A second chapter will launch at Prada Rong Zhai in Shanghai on November 4, accompanied by screenings at Cinema Godard.
