Fondazione Prada commissions 'Bébé Colère' video-essay by Poggi and Vinel

digital · 2026-04-27

Fondazione Prada has commissioned a new video-essay titled 'Bébé Colère' from French duo Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel, as part of the online project 'Finite Rants'. The short film features a computer-generated child dancing to strobe lights and techno music, exploring themes of inadequacy, rejection, and anger. Curated by Luigi Alberto Cippini and Niccolò Gravina, Finite Rants comprises eight video-essays by artists and intellectuals including Alexander Kluge, Satoshi Fujiwara, Bertrand Bonello, Brady Corbet, Christian Marazzi, and Eduardo Williams. The project examines the versatility of the video-essay format in expressing thought through contemporary visual language. Poggi and Vinel previously presented their first film in Milan on July 15, 2019. The video-essay genre, as described by Dada filmmaker Hans Richter, creates 'images for mental notions' and 'portrays concepts', with notable practitioners including Chris Marker (La Jetée, 1962), Harun Farocki, Hito Steyerl, Oliver Laric, Cecile B. Evans, and Jon Rafman.
