Fondazione Pistoia Musei launches search for new scientific director

Fondazione Pistoia Musei, established nearly two years ago, has initiated an exploratory search for a new scientific director to replace Philip Rylands, currently Director Emeritus of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. The foundation, managed by Pistoia Eventi Culturali scrl and promoted by Fondazione Caript, oversees four museum venues in Pistoia's historic center: Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi (housing archaeological, tactile, cathedral, Bigongiari collection, and millefiori tapestry sections), Palazzo de' Rossi (permanent home of Fondazione Caript's 20th-century art collection), Palazzo Buontalenti (temporary exhibition space, recently hosted Sebastião Salgado's 'Exodus' photography show), and the future ex-church of San Salvatore (multimedia museum). The scientific director will be responsible for overall museum management, conservation, strategic development, and programming. The contract is a three-year freelance position. Candidates must have at least three years of directorial experience at museums or equivalent cultural institutions in Italy or abroad.
