Fondazione Pino Pascali Acquires 'Cinque Bachi da Setola' and Produces Documentary

cultural-heritage · 2026-05-04

The Fondazione Pino Pascali, in collaboration with the Regione Puglia and the Comune di Polignano, has acquired the 1968 work 'Cinque bachi da setola e un bozzolo' by Pino Pascali, previously owned by Fabio Sargentini of Galleria L'Attico in Rome. The acquisition is the first major step of the #Pascali2018 project, marking the 50th anniversary of the artist's death on September 11, 1968. The work, chosen for its quality, subject, period, technique, dimensions, marketability, and conservation state, will be the focus of a docufilm directed by Walter Fasano, produced with Apulia Film Commission, chronicling its journey from Rome to Polignano a Mare. Additionally, the Fondazione has received the photographic archive of Pascali (over 170 photos, many unpublished) and a video advertising fund (13 original caroselli) donated by Carla Ruta Lodolo. The Scientific Committee (Pietro Marino, Valérie Da Costa, Carlo Berardi, Marco Giusti) has awarded the Premio Pino Pascali to Fabio Sargentini. The work will tour Puglia before its permanent installation at the Fondazione, with plans to reach Matera European Capital of Culture in 2019. Other initiatives include an itinerant performance in collaboration with Teatro Pubblico Pugliese and a pop-up book.
