Fondazione Pastificio Cerere opens studios to collectors in Rome

exhibition · 2026-05-05

On February 5, 2012, a private open-studio event took place at Fondazione Pastificio Cerere in the San Lorenzo area of Rome, attracting over sixty collectors. They were organized into three groups to explore the studios of artists such as Giuseppe Gallo, Paolo Tamburella, Nunzio, Francesco Fonassi, Pietro Ruffo, and Marco Tirelli. Founded in 2004 by Flavio Misciattelli and led by Marcello Smarrelli, the foundation sought to enhance relationships with collectors during economic downturns by providing exclusive access to its historic venue, which was a pasta factory from 1905 to 1961 and a creative space for artists like Nunzio and Gianni Dessì. Notably, Richard Armstrong, director of the Guggenheim Museum in New York, attended. Additionally, the foundation showcased two pieces by Lara Almarcegui, created in collaboration with curator-in-residence Vincenzo de Bellis.
