Fondazione Musica per Roma launches Cultural European Partners network
Fondazione Musica per Roma, which manages Renzo Piano's Auditorium Parco della Musica (designed in 1994, opened in 2002) and has been led by CEO Daniele Pittèri since 2020, has launched a series of international partnerships. On November 20-21, 2022, the foundation presented Cultural European Partners, a project creating a supranational network of cultural entities. The network includes 14 prestigious European performance centers, with the foundation as lead partner. Members include Palacio Euskalduna (Bilbao), Centro Cultural De Belém (Lisbon), Musiikkitalo (Helsinki), Musikkens Hus (Aalborg, Denmark), Kilden (Kristiansand, Norway), Great Amber (Liepaja, Latvia), Gasteig (Munich), House of Music (Budapest), La Seine Musicale (Paris), House of Music Hungary (Budapest), and Flagey (Brussels). Pittèri stated the partnership plan exceeded expectations, aiming for ten but reaching 14 with more interested. The network's ultimate goal is to foster collective dialogue and shared strategies on culture and entertainment. Post-pandemic, the foundation saw a record 147,371 attendees in summer 2022, up 22.5% from 2015. The partnerships aim to internationalize productions, enhance brand positioning, enable co-productions, increase international shows in Rome, and improve staff know-how. The foundation also joined a proposal for a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) for cultural and creative industries, involving over 40 European institutions, under an EIT funding call.
