Fondazione Merz announces Palermo projects ahead of Manifesta 2018
In collaboration with Fondazione Sicilia and the Comune di Palermo, Fondazione Merz is set to introduce projects in Palermo from early 2017 through 2018, aligning with Manifesta 2018. The initiative, curated by Beatrice Merz and Laura Barreca, focuses on the Mediterranean as a cultural crossroads. Kicking off from February 6 to March 3, 2017, at Palazzo Branciforte, the inaugural event features Egyptian artist Wael Shawky alongside Sicilian storyteller Mimmo Cuticchio, who will present differing viewpoints on the Crusades. Shawky's film 'Al Araba Al Madfuna III' will be showcased at S.S. Euno e Giuliano church. Additionally, 'La Via di Merz' will display contemporary art at the Museo Archeologico Regionale Antonino Salinas from February 2017 until December 2018. Support for these initiatives comes from Raffaele Bonsignore and Andrea Cusumano.
