Fondazione Memmo's Conversation Piece Turns Ten with 'In una brezza leggera'
The Fondazione Memmo in Rome is celebrating the tenth edition of its Conversation Piece series with an exhibition called 'In una brezza leggera,' which runs until March 30, 2025. Curated by Marcello Smarrelli, the show explores whether artworks possess a soul. It features pieces from a variety of artists, including Enzo Cucchi, Andrea Anastasio, Francesco Arena, and more. The exhibition’s title references the biblical story of Elijah meeting God in a gentle breeze. Highlights include Cucchi's 2005 marble sculpture 'Scirocca,' Bondi's 'Pneuma,' and Garwood's work inspired by a 6th-century fresco. Additionally, Mosse’s 'Infra' series portrays suffering in the Congo, while Sidival Fila reimagines antique textiles, inviting reflection on animism and art’s spiritual strength.
