Fondazione Memmo's Conversation Piece explores the theme of the step

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The fourth edition of Conversation Piece at Fondazione Memmo in Rome, curated by Marcello Smarrelli, brings together six international artists to interpret the concept of the 'step' as a foundational unit of real or figurative journeys. Eric Baudelaire (born 1973, Salt Lake City) filmed his walks in Rome and Paris with a mobile phone; Rossella Biscotti (born 1978, Molfetta) engraved daily rehabilitation steps into cement; Yto Barrada (born 1971, Paris) presents an intermediate phase of a project that will culminate in a solo show in London. German artists Jörg Herold and Christoph Keller, and Polish artist Jakub Woynarowski also participate. The series aims to monitor Rome's art scene, particularly its numerous foreign academies.
