Fondazione Memmo presents Conversation Piece Part VI curated by Marcello Smarrelli
Fondazione Memmo in Rome presents the sixth edition of Conversation Piece, curated by Marcello Smarrelli, titled “La realtà è ciò che non scompare quando smetti di crederci” (a quote from Philip K. Dick's essay). The exhibition explores the concept of reality through a positivist lens, inspired by Maurizio Ferraris's 2012 Manifesto of New Realism. Three protagonists address the theme: Corinna Gosmaro (Italian Fellow in Visual Arts at the American Academy in Rome), architect Philippe Rahm (fellow at the French Academy in Rome), and artist-designer Rolf Sachs, who recently established his studio in Rome. Smarrelli stated that the theme emerged from conversations with Rahm, who defines himself as an architect of new realism. The exhibition aims to restore trust in objects and their ability to modify our approach to reality. Works include Sachs's ironic installation of negative emotions in labeled containers, Gosmaro's immersive installation Aria Calda with colored notes and ascending lines, and Rahm's Climatic Apparel—unisex garments made with climate-responsive fabrics in collaboration with Irene D'Agostino and French brand About a Worker. The exhibition runs at Fondazione Memmo in Rome.
