Fondazione Mast's Photography Exhibition Explores Labor Evolution

At Fondazione Mast in Bologna, over one hundred pieces from sixty-seven photographers, spanning the 1920s to the present, are currently on display, sourced from its industrial photography collection. Curator Urs Stahel has chosen works that reveal the intricate relationships between the individual and the industrial-economic landscape. Featured artists include Berenice Abbott, Margaret Bourke-White, Thomas Demand, and many more. The exhibition transitions seamlessly through time, showcasing images of metal production, petrochemical facilities, and Jim Goldberg's landfills in Bangladesh, among others. Stahel emphasizes that the production realm often remains obscured by consumer goods, yet engaging with these visuals can trigger emotional connections to personal or familial industrial narratives, encouraging viewers to recognize the influence of significant events on their own histories.
