Fondazione Kenta Opens in Former Milan Wool Factory with Achille Mauri Show

Fondazione Kenta, a new cultural foundation in Milan's Isola district, opened in 2019 in the former Fabbrica Sassetti, a wool thread factory built in the 1930s. Founded by Marco and Giorgio Alverà, the foundation aims to create a space for artistic exchange. Its current exhibition, 'Achille Mauri. Ahead of time,' curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti, runs from May to June 2025. The show highlights Mauri's eclectic personality as a director, screenwriter, producer, writer, and cultural organizer. It includes a section on Land Art with photographs reflecting his environmental focus, and a selection of 'Pamparte' works—modified objects that curator Miglietti describes as blending artisan, shaman, and poet. Drawings in pen, markers, tempera, pastels, and inks depict faces, animals, fruits, horizons, houses, and objects. The exhibition also features 'Magia d’Africa,' a photographic account of Mauri's documentary on Dahomey (now Benin), inspired by a 1974 trip at the invitation of King Aho René Glelé, descendant of the god Agassou. The documentary aired on Rai in five episodes, exploring Dahomey's culture, magical-divinatory rituals, and religious ceremonies.
