Fondazione Izolyatsia Opens Two Shows in Kiev and Venice
Fondazione Izolyatsia, originally founded in Donetsk in 2010 by Luba Michailova, has relocated to Kiev after its factory was occupied by militants. The foundation now presents two exhibitions. The first, 'The Presence of Absence or the Catastrophe Theory,' curated by Cathryn Drake, runs until late June in Kiev. It features works by Leonard Qyla, Petros Efstathiadis, and Ali Kazma from Albania, Greece, and Turkey—countries once part of the Ottoman Empire. The show includes sixteen videos and two photographic series in a site-specific installation by Efstathiadis. The second project, 'Architecture Ukraine-Beyond the Front,' coincides with the Venice Architecture Biennale and runs until late May. It presents results from a residency focused on the reconstruction of Mariupol, a frontier city affected by war. The foundation aims to foster dialogue on rebuilding urban spaces and preserving history.
