Fondazione ICA Milano presents Aziz Hazara and Rebecca Moccia

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Fondazione ICA Milano's summer 2023 program features two solo exhibitions by young artists Aziz Hazara and Rebecca Moccia, curated by Francesca Recchia and Chiara Nuzzi respectively. Hazara's 'Condemnation' explores Afghanistan's reality through archival and original photographs, sound installations from yellow plastic barrels (Bushka Bazi), and reflections on performative utterances, referencing philosopher J.L. Austin. The artist, winner of the 2021 Future Generation Art Prize, examines how international presence in Afghanistan has been justified by verbal constructs. Moccia's 'The Ministry of Loneliness' investigates the materiality of emotions and the politicization of loneliness, inspired by actual Ministries of Loneliness she visited and researcher Jennifer Gaffney's work referencing Hannah Arendt. The exhibition reconstructs one such administrative office and features works aimed at raising visitor awareness. Both shows employ diverse media including video, sound installations, photography, and sculpture.
