Fondazione Giancarlo Ligabue Opens Palazzo delle Arti e delle Culture in Venice

exhibition · 2026-05-04

After a decade without a permanent home, the Fondazione Giancarlo Ligabue has inaugurated its new headquarters, the Palazzo delle Arti e delle Culture, overlooking the Grand Canal in Venice. The space opens with 'Collecto', a permanent exhibition featuring over 400 objects spanning 4 billion years, including a 4.5-billion-year-old meteorite. The show presents 50 different cultures and civilizations across eight thematic rooms and a central hall, exploring universal themes such as life, death, love, and power. The collection integrates paleontology, archaeology, and art, juxtaposing ancient artifacts with Western masterpieces by Ambrogio Lorenzetti and Giambattista Tiepolo, as well as contemporary works by Nico Vascellari, Arcangelo Sassolino, and Giorgio Andreotta Calò. Inti Ligabue introduced the space in an interview, describing it as a journey and a laboratory of thought rather than a traditional exhibition.
