Fondazione Furla and Museo del Novecento Launch Year-Long Performance Series

institutional · 2026-05-05

Fondazione Furla has partnered with Milan's Museo del Novecento for a year-long performance series titled 'Time after Time, Space after Space,' running from September 2017 to May 2018. The program features five artists—Alexandra Bachzetsis, Simone Forti, Adelita Husni-Bey, Christian Marclay, and Paulina Olowska—each presenting a monographic focus every two months. This initiative marks a strategic shift for the foundation, which ended its long-running Premio Furla for young Italian art to pursue external collaborations under the Furla Series umbrella. Artistic direction is handled by Peep-Hole, a Milan contemporary art center led by Vincenzo De Bellis, Bruna Roccasalva, Anna Daneri, and Stefania Scarpini. Bruna Roccasalva, also artistic director of Fondazione Furla, stated that the foundation's activities from 2017 onward will center on the Furla Series, an annual cycle of exhibitions and events with major Italian public museums. A catalog documenting all performances will be published in spring 2018, accompanied by a public program of conferences, roundtables, workshops, seminars, and guided tours. Work has already begun on Furla Series 02, which will take a completely different format. The collaboration reinforces the role of private entities in supporting institutional spaces in Milan, a city already buzzing with cultural events like Salone del Mobile, miart art week, Salone del Libro, and Food Week.
